Rain on the first two sections of the night rally made conditions tricky, but the pair made it through unscathed, while many other crews retired from the event with mechanical problems or accident damage.
Fellow North Eastern Car Club members Mark and Steph Richards (Ford Escort) finished down the order after carburettor problems slowed their progress early in the event. Ralph Price and Will Murphy took an impressive 11th place in their Volvo after a clean run. The event was won by Melbourne driver Andrew Bell in a Nissan Bluebird.
Meanwhile, Ron Harper has won round two of the NECC’s motorkhana championship, held at the club’s Tarrawingee grounds on Sunday. Harper drove his Honda Civic to victory ahead of the Escort of Nick Versteegan.
Thirteen-year old Cody Richards took an impressive third place in the event, driving the club’s Mazda 323. |
